Never Knew I Needed is made up two main companies, NKIN Second Love and NKINmade.
Second Love is where you'll find.. well.. your second love aka the budget friendly sample wedding dress of your dreams. Also included is accessories, moms, maids & mini gowns. We also provide hard to find services like gown cleanings, restoration, and alterations.
NKINmade is our in-house personalized gift & accessories which launch new products consistently.

NKIN is owned by visionary, legendary, one-and-only Abby (guess who wrote this blurb), but in order to make NKIN what it is today, she has been joined by her sister and husband to turn and they are pretty great too.
Ultimately, she started this business because she believes "love is love and everyone deserves their happily ever after"

Our Story
Hi, I'm Abby.
Founder of Never Knew I Needed.
And honestly? I never planned on owning a bridal shop.
Back in 2019, I was making personalized gifts and wedding accessories from my two-bedroom apartment. What started as a creative outlet quickly turned into a business, and before long I was spending my days talking with Nearlyweds about everything from bridesmaid gifts to wedding timelines.
The more conversations I had, the more I realized something.
Wedding planning can be really overwhelming.
Not because couples aren't excited, but because there are so many decisions, so many opinions, and so many businesses that make the process feel harder than it needs to be.
So when the opportunity came to open a local Ottawa storefront, I said yes.
And then I said yes again. And again.
What started as a small gift business slowly grew into something much bigger than I ever imagined.

Building what we wish existed
As our business grew, we realized Ottawa needed something different.
A bridal shop where nearlyweds could actually take their dress home the same day.
A place where finding a wedding dress didn't require a six-month timeline or a luxury budget.
A place where bridesmaids, mothers, wedding guests, and nearlyweds of every size could all find something they loved.
Most importantly, a place where people felt comfortable.
So we expanded into bridal. Then alterations. Then cleaning and preservation. Then accessories. Then content creation. Our newest addition? Men's rental suits
Then pretty much every wedding service we wished existed when helping our couples.
Today, Never Knew I Needed has become Ottawa's One-Stop Wedding Shop, helping thousands of nearlyweds find what they need for one of the biggest days of their lives.

Whether you're LGBTQIA+, plus size, shopping with a short timeline, planning a courthouse wedding, hosting a 300-person celebration, or simply figuring things out as you go, you're welcome here.

Just real people helping real people find something they love.
Because at the end of the day, our job isn't to tell you what a nearlywed should look like.
