Wedding dress shopping is usually shown as a magical, flawless experience, & sometimes it is! But it comes with its fair share of challenges, and emotions. So let’s take a moment to normalize a few things that are way more common than you think. 

1. Sweating (It’s Hot in Those Bridal Gowns!)

Repeat after me: “Everyone sweats trying on wedding gowns.” They’re waaay heavier than they look, with all the layers of fabrics, corsets and tulle. When trying on a ton of gowns dont be afraid to take a break and drink some water.  We’ve got you covered with the AC on & endless Diet Cokes. 

2. The Fit Might Not Be Perfect Right Away

A lot of brides expect that the first dress they try on will fit like a glove. However, that’s not usually the case. 99.99% of Wedding gowns will need alterations, unless you’re gods' favourite LOL. Buuut we carry sizes 0-36 so there’s no “imagining” needed. We've got a dress for you to actually put on your body. 

The perfect fit is something we’ll help you achieve with alterations. A dress might be a little too big, too small, in certain places & that’s completely normal. Alterations are a part of the process, so don’t get discouraged if it doesn’t fit exactly how you imagined when you first try it on. Although we are able to work our magic in the changeroom with clips, pins & all the tools to ensure you look snatched during the shopping try ons. 

3. Emotions Are Part of the Journey

It’s so normal to feel excited, anxious or even emotional when wedding dress shopping. It’s a big decision and whatever you feel we’re here to support you every step of the way. Whether that’s grabbing the tissues or just being your biggest hypewoman we are here for you! 

4. You Have a Budget—And That’s Okay

Let’s normalise having a budget and sticking to it . All of our dresses are priced 750$-2000$ so you can look amazing without breaking the bank.  We also love transparency & that’s why you can find all our gowns online with prices.  We love that you can browse to see what you’re into at a price point you love. 

5. New Parent? No Problem 

If you’re a new parent don’t let that stop you from shopping! Babies & small children are so welcome at NKIN during your appointment - we get it being a parent is a fulltime job.  In store we’ve got you covered with a change table, baby wipes & all the chestfeeding essentials.  Most importantly if you need to take a break, let us know we want you to be comfortable. 

6. Comfort Is Key

We love being comfy, we really do.  Just because you’re shopping doesn't mean you can't prioritize it. Wear what you gotta wear babes, whether that’s cozy socks or your lucky necklace.  You want to feel like yourself.  Instore we have try on shoes as well as all the shapewear you can imagine.  Extra tip, shapewear doesn’t have to be uncomfortable, sometimes a seamless smoothing is all you need!
